Schönbergs Mahler
Nikolaus Urbanek
It is almost impossible to overestimate the special significance of Gustav Mahler for the Viennese School. Using constellations and case studies as examples, this seminar will examine in what way Gustav Mahler – as a person, in his compositions, and in his artistic activities – was regarded as significant in the Viennese School. In addition to biographic and cultural contexts, the focus here is especially on issues relating to composition, interpretation, and reception.
